Smiley Saturday
Another week down and its Saturday again. Which means its Smiley time.
Smiley Saturday is the brainchild of Lightening so wander on over (if you haven’t already) and say hi to her.
Its been another busy week here but there has been lots to smile about.
- The kids are staying with their grandparents for a week - so its very, very quiet here.
- Kin was down in Sydney for the week so I managed to catch up with her and her beautiful daughter Megwyn who is now 9 weeks old. And what else would 3 girls do - go shopping of course
- DH and I went to the Archibald Prize last night - it was a work function and it was a great night. It’s so different seeing the paintings up close rather than just a photo of them. And as always, art is something that people either agree or disagree on and its interesting to hear what people think about different paintings. And big, excited smiles because there is going to be a Monet exhibition at the Art Gallery in October -which includes Waterlillies.
- DH and I stayed in the city last night and then went for a wander around this morning. Its been a while since I have been into the city so I really enjoyed seeing how much its changed in parts and just looking around at all the shops. And I did manage to buy myself a new wallet and handbag. My other handbag has been driving me nuts for a long time - maybe because there’s no room for my stuff in there with the cricket balls, sunscreen, McDonalds toys and a few other bits and pieces in there that belong to the kids. Needless to say, I went for a larger handbag this time. Yay can’t wait to use them.
So there has been lots to smile about this week. And I am enjoying the time without the kids - I get to be me for a few days rather than just Mum. And the kids get to spend time with their grandparents which is great while they are still happy to do it - it probably won’t last long though.
I hope that you all had lots to smile about. Don’t hold your breath but I may get photos posted of the new handbag tomorrow.

As if I wasn’t jealous enough about the Archibald prize, now you tell me there’s going to be a Monet exhibition!! Man, I’m green here….dark green!

*sheesh*
Yes, there are things I miss about Sydney, and these types of things are top of the list. Can’t see Monet coming to Townsville any time soon!
Nice to get time to be you instead of Mum isn’t it? Visits to the grandparents normally last a little longer than a lot of other things. They’re the types of places they tend to get away with more, so it’s more appealing…
You had lots to smile about this week…that’s good
It was great to catch up with you too
I can’t wait to do it again in September. Although I might have to take something sedating if I have to catch a plane again…
oooooo, last exhibition I saw was the Salvador Dali one in Brissie. sigh.
Nice to hear about your smiley week!
oo oo oo oo , new bag? PHOTO PLEASE!
I may have to join you for that Monet exhibition! When is it?
Anonymum- red and green neutralise each other so just apply some red LOL. Well, you’ll just have to come to Sydney to see Monet. Or I can find out if the exhibition will be going to Brisbane if thats any better for you. I know, you’re saving for OS next year.
Kin - LOL at something sedating. Then your little girl would laugh even more
I’m just glad that you made it home OK, finally. And yes looking forward to September to do it again.
Bettina - Salvador Dali - now that would have been a good one to see
Kerri - it starts 11 October I think at the Art Gallery. Sounds wonderful - and love you to join me but will you still be here????
Ohh you lucky thing!
Sounds like a grand time was had by all in your week
Thanks Jayne - yeah it was a great week. Hopefully the fun will continue
I went to the gallery website a couple of days ago and saw monet written on the screen and commented to my husband how beautiful the image was. I have seen Lightenings Smilie Saturday in the last few days, was considering joining in. Maybe soon. My son has seen some balloons about. He studies accounting.
Linda- thanks for visiting. Monet’s pictures are beautiful and I saw “Waterlillies” when I was in England - so much better in real life - no photos of it can ever do it justice. Look forward to you joining us for Smiley Saturday soon.
Yay, Sounds a lovely Smiley week.
Congrats on winning the Name That…Thing! competition, Gemisht
I’m so slack. I have not been to see anything lately.
I so agree. The paintings are so different when you see them up close. Even the ones that might not be your cup of tea; it’s still great to see them close.
